Bunaken Divesites
Siladen
|
Siladen is a tiny island to the north east of Bunaken Island. There is a resort on the island and the dive sites can also be reached from Bunaken Island and Manado resorts.
Siladen has fabulous deep wall drop offs covered in soft corals, gorgonians seafans and sponges. The colourful walls are awash with reds, oranges, purples and yellows.
Set against the clear blue sea background and the powerful sunlight that pierces the water, these sites are an underwater photographers play ground. Small reef fish like anthias and damsels are always on the move, darting in and out of coral heads.
Schools of reef fish include angelfish, butterflyfish, bannerfish, fuslier, surgeonfish and wrasse.
Macro life is always excellent. Pygmy seahorse can be found in pink gorgonian fans by divers with very sharp eyes. Harlequin shrimps, ornate ghost pipefish and scorpion leaffish are other critters to look out for. Nudibranchs are numerous.
