A few suggestions for where to dive in Indonesia:

  • Komodo National Marine Park - Strong currents and big fish. Manta rays and reef sharks are common as are some amazing critters. Many trips start and end in Bali making them easy to get to. Diving on Komodo liveaboards often includes dives at Bali's best dive sites as well as Sumbawa, Rinca, Flores and Alor.

  • Raja Ampat - The Irian Jaya region is huge and is definately best dived by liveaboard. Although Raja Ampat is gaining more attention in the diving media it is still a frontier dive destination, far from the bubbling crowds.

  • Bunaken Marine Park and the Lembeh Strait can both be dived from resort or liveaboard. A liveaboard can combine both destinations for the perfect combination of colourful reefs and amazing critters.

  • Other liveaboard destinations include the Banda islands, Wakatobi, Sangalaki and Timor.
